• I just updated WP and several plug-ins, and accidentally activated a new theme version. All of my original pictures are gone, and everything has changed. If it is so easy to wipe out your website with the simple click of a button, tell me, please, there is a simple way to get it back!! https://www.comprehensivetitle.net

do you have a backup copy of your website files?
were you using child theme or making theme customizations directly to the parent theme?

As far as backup copy of website files, I am looking at files from 2013 in GoDaddy (our host) and it shows files in there, but truthfully, I’m not quite sure what I’m looking at. I think changes were made to the parent theme, but the person who created the site for us is no longer around. Any ideas?

theme file folder are available in file manager.
file manager is normally accessible thru cPanel on GoDaddy.com
look at the folders inside the WP Content folder in your file manager.
this will give you an idea of what you have available to work with.

which theme is ACTIVATED at this time?

which themes are available but not activated?

Ok, I see exactly where you are talking about. Thank you. It looks like under the wp content heading, I see “Andromeda” with the cms, css, img, etc. folders listed under them. They are from 2011 and 2013. Then below the first “Andromeda” listing, there are the folders for Andromeda 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. How can I tell which one is active?

look on the themes page in your wordpress dashboard to find the currently active theme.

Oh, on the wp dashboard. It says Andromeda 2012 is active. I was looking in the GoDaddy files.

OK – everyone can get a great laugh at this: the way Andromeda labels their themes, I didn’t realize that plain ole “Andromeda” was the original one that we had been using. So agonizing 2 hours passed and all I needed to do was click the button. (Our new website developer scooped in to save the day – YAY!) Thank you so much for your prompt attention and help – so very appreciated!
