• Something that has always bother me is how the blog landing page is setup in WordPress. I have some questions. But first, let me explain my process:

    1. I create a page called Blog.
    2. I navigate to Settings -> Reading
    3. I set Blog to be the “Posts” page.
    4. I review my Blog page and all it is is a list of my blog posts with some navigation…

    In my mind, a proper landing page would have a description of the contents of the blog, the featured article, and then the respective widgets for recent, archive, categories, etc…

    So what I’ve been doing is just writing a custom home.php file but I can’t get past the sense that it just seems lacking… Can anyone confirm or deny my hope!?! ??

  • You can customize your blog or static pages to look however you want…there really aren’t many limitations to what you can do. And there’s a wide variation of how different themes already do that.

    What theme are you using?

    I’ve developed a child theme of Twenty Twelve.
