Understanding "Rename On Save"

I will update the FAQ with the answer to your question, I think it is very important to understand what it does. Here is the explanation.

Let’s say you modify the titles of your media while editing a post. The plugin cannot rename the files yet, because you are in the process of editing your post and the image links are in there. If that option is checked, when the post is actually saved (drafted, scheduled or published), then the images will be renamed and the links updated. If you don’t check this option, you would have to go to the Media Manager and click on the button “Rename Now” next to that image.

Thanks very much for the info! It helps a lot! Except I can’t figure out how to change an image title from a post. Can you please include a few simple steps on how to to do this in the FAQ? Or maybe just an extra screenshot? Thanks again ??

When you are in a post, you can click on insert media then you can rename the titles of the photos in there. You didn’t notice? The tiles are changed but the filenames will not be changed until the post button is clicked.

So you can only do this when you click on Add Media and insert the media for the first time? If the media has already been inserted and I click the pencil icon in its top left corner to edit it, then the option would no longer be available?

That’s how it looks like to me, because when I edit media in a post, the only title option is the image title attribute, and I don’t think that’s the same thing… So if it’s only possible when adding new media to a post, clarifying that in the FAQ would be perfect!!

I agree I should simplify this ?? I am going to release a new version of the plugin sometimes in January and will try to make a few changes. It need to be more user friendly.
