Hi. We used a fully managed shared server and I have just installed W3 Total Cache on many of the websites we manage. I am struggling to understand fully about Database Cache and Object Cache and my question is this:

When testing Database Cache and Object Cache, if “Disk” is faster than “none”, should I select it?

    Thanks very much

    Hello @industrialmarketing

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to assist you with this.

Generally speaking, it’s not recommended to use DB caching or Object Caching when the only available caching method is Disk. This depends on various things, like the size of the website and the database/objects used.

For example, for ecommerce websites, it’s recommended to use memory-based caching for OC and DB caching, and avoid caching to disk, due to the heavy load that may cause problems with the server resources.

If you have a small/medium website, you can use caching to Disk however, it may not impact the speed very much.

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks!
