underscore allowed in wordpress username?

    Hello I am trying to get my wordpress to allow underscores in the username. I have my site hosted on a provider I will not mention right now, but they are telling me that restriction came from upgrading to wordpress version 3.4 But I know that is not true because I have a site on godaddy which is 3.4.1 and I can have usernames with and underscore in them with no problem. So – can anyone here confirm what wordpress allows and doesn’t as far as special characters? If you have this on a page already please just direct me there. thanks so much!

  • Hi, wordpress allows the underscore in the users username without question, do you get an error message? or what happens when you try to create the user?

    it was just our hosting service that added on some extra restrictions and they were trying to say it was from wordpress so I was looking for some confirmation…
