Undefined variable when selecting posts to show on a page

Using:
[recentposts-sc category=”site-operations”]
On the page and I get:
Notice: Undefined variable: post in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-shortcode-widget/index.php on line 185
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-shortcode-widget/index.php on line 185
Have not looked at source code yet but this seems to be the intent of the plugin and hence suspect that some setup is incomplete.
