• I started my blog recently (WP 2.2), and selected to organize my images in month- and year-based folders.

I’m thinking of switching back to storing all of my images in wp-content/uploads.

Will unchecking the box “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” cause any problems now that my blog has a bunch of images?

I would want to move my existing images back into the /upload directory, so I guess I’ll have to modify an exported SQL file, then re-import it into the database, right?

The way I see it I would need to search and replace the following:

    Replace “/mywebsite.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/” with “/mywebsite.org/wp-content/uploads/”

    and

    Replace “/mywebsite/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/” with
    “/mywebsite/wp-content/uploads/”

    Will this work OK?

  • you don’t have to do that,
It only applies to future uploads. All uploads will stay in their original directories because these are real directories, not virutal, rewrites.

    Thanks. That’s good to know.

I still might want to relocate the older pictures into the common folder however, just to keep things tidy… so I may try to search and replace those strings anyway.
