I’ve created a very, very basic slider, fullwidth, 2 slides, each only an image from the media library. The only thing I changed about the slider in general is the slider title.

I get the error in Chrome console: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'img' of undefined

I’m using the astra theme. There are no JS errors other than the one from smart slider. I’ve read through the help document https://smartslider3.helpscoutdocs.com/article/492-only-the-loading-animation-displays-in-the-frontent but don’t see anything that would apply here.

I should mention that I used Elementor page builder as well. The slider is the only element added to the page.

This problem can be related to a third party plugin ( it can be an image optimizer/lazy loader plugin ), which also modifies the image tag in the slider, which contains some additional information what our slider uses.

What I would suggest is doing a Plugin and Theme conflict test as you see in our documentation:

In this way you can find out if the problem is related to a third party plugin.

I tracked down my problem to ewww image optimizer. I had the webp JS WebP Rewriting option turned on. While it did not generate an error in the EWWW script, it probably affected the HTML output in a way that made Smart Slider throw an error.

In conclusion, you CAN have EWWW active and even use the Force WebP option, but not the JS WebP Rewriting option in conjunction with Smart Slider 3.

I am glad you managed to find the cause of the problem.

Actually, there is a known issue with EWWW Image Optimizer. The problem with this plugin is that, they removed our image tags that was containing the information what we are using.
