• Hello WordPress,

I am trying to expand the dropdown menu under my About page. If you click on the hamburger item on the top left and try clicking the About menu item, you’ll come to find it doesn’t expand. It should show three sub pages (About Reborn Hair PPP, Mission and Goals, and My Inspiring Story).

    Here is my website: https://www.resurrectedhair.net/testingppp11/

Google developer tools is showing the following error:

Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [name=] jquery.js:1
    at Function.fa.error (jquery.js:1)
    at fa.tokenize (jquery.js:1)
    at fa.select (jquery.js:1)
    at Function.fa (jquery.js:1)
    at Function.a.find (jquery-migrate.min.js:2)
    at n.fn.init.find (jquery.js:1)
    at n.fn.init.a.fn.find (jquery-migrate.min.js:2)
    at a.fn.init.n.fn.init (jquery.js:1)
    at new a.fn.init (jquery-migrate.min.js:2)
    at n (jquery.js:1)

It seems like to fix the error, the file is located under wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js

This problem only happens on PC and tablet screen sizes. It works fine on cell phone screens.

Do you know how I can fix this issue? I am running the latest wordpress 4.9.5.

Any prompt help would be graciously appreciated as I am on the final stages of launching my website very soon, but can’t because of this holdup.

    Thank you!

    All my best,
    Joe

  • Hello Joe,

I assume that there might be some Plugin, which is getting conflicted with the jQuery.

I would suggest you opt for the different Header Layout, I assume you can do that Theme Options. As the Rare Theme, you have used seems to be a paid theme.

    Check this document https://visualmodo.com/docs/rare-wordpress-theme-documentation/

Or else, try to deactivate the plugins once and see if it make any difference.

    Thanks.

    Hi kartiks16,

    Thanks for your reply.

So you’re pretty confident this error is not stemming from WordPress even though the file path for the jQuery file is located under the wp-includes (not the theme) folder?

I was trying to get the collapsible menu to work only on tablet. If I try a different menu style (non-collapsible), then due to the length of the characters, the menu items will not fit beautifully on tablet mode. The words fall over onto the second line making the whole presentation look messy.

I have disabled all plugins to no avail.

This is so frustrating. I did reach out to VisualModo’s developers but still no response.

@rebornhairppp: Please do not report threads unless you see posts that break the forum rules.

My apologies. I am still new. I didn’t know what that option does. Now I know going forward.

Can anyone help assist with this issue?

I’ve already tried disabling all plugins. Still no luck.

I have reached out to my theme provider and they told me the tests on their end show up as normal. My website is https://www.resurrectedhair.com. Since the jquery file is located in the wp-includes folder, I suspect the error may be due to WordPress coding not VisualModo.

I am desperate need for any help as this issue is causing lost viewership on mobile devices.

    Thank you!

    All my best,
    Joe
