uncategorized doesn’t change

    I’ve tried multiple times to change the category called “uncategorized”, but after I say save, or update, it says changes not updated, and indeed it doesn’t change. There are NO posts associated with it either. Please someone tell me what I’m doing wrong. Thanks!

  • When you say “change”, what do you mean? You can’t delete your default category but you can rename it.

    IT is a default category so you can not delete it. But you can rename it with your desired category name.

    This is NOT TRUE. I change the name, and it does not “take”. I know I can not delete it, but it will NOT let me change the name. This is even after I have removed ALL posts associated with its name. It is maddening!

    For fun, just installed 2.9-rare. The install creates one post assigned to the Uncategorized category and it sets the Default Post Category to that category. Renamed that category to News. Then created a 2nd category called Portfolio, changed the Default Post Category to Portfolio, and deleted Uncategorized. The one post got assigned the Portfolio category, and Uncategorized got deleted.

    You can delete a category, but as esmi stated, you can’t delete the category as long as it is designated the Default Post Category.

    You can also rename a category even while it is the Default Post Category.
