Site is on Hosting environment: dreamhost linux

error: No rules were updated. Please verify you have permissions to write to the /wp-content/wflogs directory. Directory is 755, files in directory are 644

All diagnostics are green, no cURL errors reporting
I tried manually refresh rules – failed
I tried deleting the folder and it recreated itself … it’s now in learning mode and there are no rules at all and Manual refresh still does not work.

Advice on other reports for this issue is to determine if the owner of the /wp-content/wflogs directory the same as the user the web server runs as? but offers no advice on how to do that?

I look after 30+ sites and haven’t had a problem. All software is up to date.

    Thanks

  • We released an update that should have fixed this yesterday. Can you make sure you have the last update (7.2.4) and manually updating the rules? If that doesn’t work can you try deleting the rules.php file in wp-content/wflogs? Let Wordfence automatically regenerate the file (usually within 30 minutes) and see if the issue is resolved.

The plugin was up to date when I checked – auto updated. 7.2.4
There were no rules. Tried the button to manually refresh the rules ==> failed again
    Deleted rules.php
rules.php regenerated itself pretty quickly but no rules added
logged out / logged in & checked again (no rules)
    waited 30+ min

    still no rules

    thanks

    Still no firewall rules.
I decided to go with a different plugin on this particular site at least for now.
WF is operational for the other 30.

    Thanks.
