When I upload an image from my computer, it automatically uploads the image as a thumbnail, making it appear quite small when I insert it into my blog.

I’ve tried two solutions: First, I tried changing the dimmension specifications in the html editor. This enlarged the image, but it was so blurry that it was useless.

Second, I tried right clicking on the thumbnail image and changing it from “using thumbnail” to “using original.” However, all this did was cause the thumbnail-sized image to appear, only extremely fragmented and blurry, in the editor.

Is there a way to upload images in their original dimensions so that I can use full-sized illustrations in my blog?

I know that there must be something else I can do in the upload process. If anyone on here, and I’m sure someone must, has been able to use full-sized (or at least not thumbnail sized) photos through word press, I’d sure be grateful if they’d tell me how they did it. Thanks! =+)

Are you trying to put the images in posts? Or where?
I just use the <img src="https://www.blah.com">tag where I want the pic in my post.

Thank you so much for replying! I’m trying to insert images that are uploaded directly from my computer, rather than hosted on an online photohost. (I’ve been using an online photo host, but I’m not thrilled with the quality, so I’m hoping I can make this new method work.)

Again, thank you so much for replying!

Does anyone know of a way to control the size of photos when they’re uploaded directly from a computer into wordpress?

    I a;ready replied this several times… just can’t find them ??
When you click on the image in the upload/browser thingy (below the posting area) you can choose: original or thumb. Now, the trick is that even choosing the “Original” it will place it in the text area a pic of the thumb szie (pixel-wise, so to speak) BUT actually it IS the original – as file szie in KB.
If you use the RTE (wysiwyg) just click on the image in the text area and drag its corners to make it of the size you want (you can even see the width/height values while doing this).
If you don’t use the wysiwig, you’ll have to manually edit the width/height values in the text area.

You need the Imgae Browser plugin I use on my site.

I am using the 1.5 version for 2.0

I am having the same problem. I can’t even make it bigger by double clicking. I have only been doing this for a couple of months. I don’t know jack about this stuff. Good luck.

    @tommoyoh
couple of months? You mean since Christmas? Because there was no WP 2.x before that.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond! I’m going to go try all of the proposed solutions, and report back, hopefully with success!

I think it may be resolved! Thank you very much for all your help!

Stop wasting time and just do what I told ya… lol

You can upload images right from the post area and insert either the full image or a thumbnail that links to the full image.

    -Shawna ??

When I upload an image, I can see the thumbnail below the post message but when I drag and drop this thumbnail into the post window – it disapears!
