I have just recently installed wordpress and am trying to upload an image into a page but am unable to. The screen to upload images pops up and says at the top “upload image” and then below “from computer” but below that is completely blank giving me no way to upload an image from my computer…

You have to use the Browser Uploader, as the latest Adobe Flash has broken the Flash Uploader

You are using the Flash uploader. Problems? Try the Browser uploader instead.

    Image/Media Uploader problems?

I am having a similar but different problem. Everything on the blog (WP version 2.7.1) is working perfectly, but when I try to upload an image (either through the Flash or the Browser dialogue box), I get the following error message:

Unable to create directory /home/business/public_html/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I have checked the permissions on the parent directories and they are set to 755. When I change them to 666 (which I had to do for some other files), it breaks the blog. I read through the suggested article above and none of it seems to apply. Any ideas out there?

One common reason people get this error is that they don’t have enough disk space on their hosting server. You may want to check with your hosting company and see if you are at or near your disk space capacity.
