• i am using https://www.000webhost.com as a host and when i try uploading an image it gives me an error “Unable to create directory /home/a4406044/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

    what might the problem be?

i just manualy created the set of folders and now it gave me another error

The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/a4406044/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/04.

different to the one previously, any ideas? thanks in advance.

I have been trying to do the same thing. I finally found out in another forum discussion that you have to create a .htaccess file in order to give permissions for your wordpress site to upload files. that is all well and good, however the problem with having a file called .htaccess(in other words with a dot in the beginning) is that it becomes a hidden file which you cannot then retrieve. How can one make this file visible so that one can place it in the admin folder on one’s web server and then be able to find it later in case if a problem does occur as a result of its upload. please advise.

    thanks!
