I am trying to upload an audio file that is 104MB, I have a limit of 700MB and keep getting the message, “Unexpected response from the server. The file may have been uploaded successfully. Check in the Media Library or reload the page.” I have tried searching the internet and all responses are far beyond my technical experience. Is there an easy fix? I can upload images.

    Hi @allie08,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    Is Wordfence blocking the upload?

To confirm you can attempt an upload with Wordfence activated, navigate to your Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic page, and see whether you find any blocked requests, click on it to expand it, then click “Add Param to Allowlist”.

You could also try changing the Wordfence Web Application Firewall to Learning Mode. From the Wordfence Dashboard, click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now confirm whether you can upload the file without any issues. Once done, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting and test to see that you can still upload the files without any issues.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/ is an amazing resource for learning more about the WAF and learning mode.

If none of the above solutions work, you will need to contact your hosting provider’s support. They can check server logs and assist with server-specific issues.

    Thanks,

    Mark.
