• All of a sudden, when I try to upload images, I’m getting this message:

The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxx.org/httpdocs/wordpress/wp-content/uploads.

I can’t seem to figure out what’s going on. Is this a permission issue on the server or a settings issue in WP.

I can work around it by simply ftping the images into the right spot and then link to them but that’s a long way around.

    Any Ideas?

  • Sounds like a file permission issue. See if the uploads folder is on the server, if it is set the permissions on that folder to 777 – if its not there create it with the permissions 777.

If this works, then it was the permissions, but you should now go back to that folder and tighten up the permissions on it as nothing should be 777 on your server unless its an absolute necessity.

The folder is there and has 777 as the permission as well as the wp-contents folder.

So, I’m guessing the problem is elsewhere. I get the same message when trying to add media to the site.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Hi,

777 permissions may lead to the hack of the contents. YOu can assign 755 recursive permissions to wp-content folder with the help of your web hosting service provider which may resolve the issue.

    Thanks,
