Unable to upgrade – PHP Memory Problems

    I’ve tried several things, but I cannot get the automatic upgrade to work on my blog. I keep receiving the following message. I have tried increasing the memory limit in my php.ini file with no success. I am using bluehost.

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2348617 bytes) in …/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1033

  • See if deactivating plugins helps.

    If not, methods for increasing the amount of memory a PHP script may consume

    1. If you have access to your PHP.ini file, change the line in PHP.ini
    If your line shows 16M try 64M:
    memory_limit = 64M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (64MB)

    2. If you don’t have access to PHP.ini try adding this to an .htaccess file:
    php_value memory_limit 64M

    3. Try adding this line to your wp-config.php file:
    Increasing memory allocated to PHP
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');

    4. Talk to your host.

    it’s working now.

    1. the php.ini file didn’t fix it
    2. the edit to the .htaccess file caused an internal server error (once I reverted back, it was fine.
    3. the wp-config.php edit made it work

    Mine is working as well, used step 3.
    Now I can upgrade my site
