• I wanted to post this here because I don’t know if this is a hosting issue, a theme to plugin compatibility issue or a WordPress platform issue. I hope some can help me figure it out.

I am using the Fiction Theme (Themeforest) with WP 3.6.1. I also am using a client recommended host – easyhosting and they say they can support WordPress. I had to do a manual install and although i have done a few manual installs, i had a problem with this one and needed there tech support to finally get it up and running even though i did follow the instructions for manual install to a T.

Now every time i go to update any plugin, I get this error message:

The plugin captcha/captcha.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

The problem is the file is there and does exist. In fact the plugin was activated and working fine until the plugin update attempt.

The only way i can get the plugin back is to manually delete it via FTP and then install a new and updated version. This has now happened with 4 plugins which are all of the ones that have had updates in the last couple of days.

Once a re-install a new fresh plugin, it activates and works fine. The issue seems to be the update process which can’t find the plugin file?

Has anyone else experienced anything like this. Is this a theme issue, or a hosting issue or is this some issue tied to the WordPress platform?
