    Hi there,
We’re using W3 Total Cache Pro plugin with Cloudfront CDN Enabled.
We’re unable to save php files through wordpress dashboard, it shows “Scrape key check failed. Please try again.”
However we are able to save css, js files from dashboard.
If we disable the plugin, the problem goes.
Please help us fix it, as it impacts our workflow.

Please Note — We’re using the Plugin for very long time and keep on Updating it, if you think that old files could be the reason, please let us know we’ll install a fresh copy of the plugin on our website.

    Hello @manishtechnians

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you wiht this.
In some cases repored before, this may be caused if Object Caching is enabled.
Can you please try to disable OC, save all settings and purge the cache and see if the problem persists?
Just a quick suggestion, it’s better to edit the php files on server, so instead of editing the files cia the WP dashbaord, you should make a backup of the file before editig.
    Thanks!

Hi Marko, thanks for the response,
We’ve already tried disabling object cache but that didn’t work. Also we don’t have any file editor on server. Each time we have to edit in VIM Editor through ssh connection, that is not so convenient to edit multiple files.
I request you to please suggest an alternate solution to the problem.

    Hello @manishtechnians

Can you please disable the settings one by one in Performance>general settings, save the settings and purge the cache after each setting is disabled, and see which one might be causing the issue?

    Thanks!

Hi marko, thanks for your support.
    But we’ve tried this too.
We’re unable to fix it by following the above steps.
If we disable the plugin, then it starts working.
Please help us in this as I mentioned our lot of work is on hold due to this issue.

    Hello @manishtechnians

I’ve tried to edit the files Appearence>Theme Editor. Every time I make some changes and click on the “Update” the changes are saved successfully so I am unable to replicate the issue you are experiencing.
You stated that even if you disable all settings in Performance>General settings the issue persists so there might be some conflict with other plugins. I would suggest disabling other plugins and see which one may be causing the conflict.
    Thanks!

When we disable w3 plugin, the issue is gone.
That means problem is with the plugin itself.

    Hello @manishtechnians

I understand this. You have already stated this.
However, I m unable to replicate the behavior which means that the problem is in the specific use-case and your environment.
This is why I suggested disabling other plugins and seeing if there is a conflict.
    Thanks!

Yes we’ve tried it many times, the problem only fix if we disable w3 total cache plugin

    This is not resolved.

I just repeated the same issue – have W3 Total Cache installed, and every time I go to edit a file as described I get this error.

I deactivated W3 Total Cache and the problem resolves, I can save and edit files as I always have.

So, this is clearly something to do with the W3 Total Cache plugin

    Hello @bst7

    Thank you for the feedback.
Generally speaking, it’s not advisable to edit the .php files via Theme Editor.
SO it’s much safer and recommended to have a backup of the files you are editing.
In any case, can you please go to Performance>General Settings, scroll down to the Fragment Cache section, and make sure that the Fragment Cache Method is set as in the screenshot below if you are not using it. Save all settings and purge the cache and see if the issue persists?
    Thanks!

Yes, well I already have a backup of this file, but thanks for your concern.

I made the change your suggested and this fixed the problem (it was on “Disk” prior to this). Thanks!

@vmarko I happen to have the same issue, I have disabled the W3 Total Cache plugin, but I still have the same issue. I have activated the plugin and changed the settings as mentioned above and the same error happens. Oh, I have also deleted the cache directory, and nothing.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,

I’m currently experiencing this issue, as i speak… I have done all i can do, yet… its still showing same error

@vmarko Please assist me on this, i am totally down, my business is broke.

I left if for about 3hours, and tried again while having plugins intact, and its working perfectly like ever.

    God is Great!
