• Hi,

    I am unable to change the meta title and description of my WordPress site despite multiple attempts. I have installed the SEO plugin and updated the meta title and description of my home page and several other pages, but the issue persists. When I go to the home page or other pages that I updated their meta title and description, I can see the updated one on each. However, when I google my blog, the outdated meta title and description appears.

    I have tried clearing my blog cache, clearing my browser cache, using multiple browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, but the old meta title and description still show up. I also installed the Yoast SEO Test plugin and clicked on “Reset indexable and migrations” as suggested in another forum post, but this did not resolve the issue.

    Can anyone advise on what I’m missing or doing wrong? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or fix this so I can successfully update the meta title and description for my site. Thank you!

  • Using the homepage as an example, the following meta description is currently stored there:

    Easy-to-follow, nourishing recipes and clever kitchen tips for cooking affordable, waste-free meals with simple ingredients you have on hand.

    This is also what is stored in your field in Yoast. What should it actually be?

    And just to be sure: are you concerned with the output of the meta description in the HTML code or what you get displayed in the search results on Google?

    Thank you for your respons. “Easy-to-follow, nourishing recipes…”” is the meta description that I wrote.
    My concern is with the search results displayed on Google which still is:”It isn’t just coffee. We serve a variety of refreshments, snacks and delicacies to satisfy your taste buds and make sure you get the best experience with us.” I believe it could be from a starter template I used initially (it was called Coffee Shop), but then I changed the template and picked Love Nature instead.
    I checked the HTML code and it shows the correct title (Nourish and Mash: Easy Recipes and Clever Kitchen Tips) and description (Easy-to-follow, nourishing recipes and clever kitchen tips for cooking affordable, waste-free meals with simple ingredients you have on hand). However, when I search my website name on Google I see the meta description I mentioned (It isn’t just coffee…).

    @mostovar ,

    Google will need to take some time to reflect your updated Meta description.

    You can hasten this process by going to your Google Search Console and inspect your home page URL and request indexing. Recently I did that and Google refreshes my meta description in 2 days.

    Hope this helps.

    As already mentioned, it is up to Google whether and how it uses the specified meta description. It also plays no role in Google’s evaluation of the content of a page. Google has a help page on this: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/snippet?hl=en

    If you have any further questions, I would recommend that you contact the Google Search Community: https://support.google.com/webmasters/community?hl=en

    Thank you both! I just checked tonight and Google is showing the correct meta title and description.
