• Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a similar issue at https://am.amccsm.org/ where I am unable to switch away from English to Chinese (simplified) or Chinese (traditional) on the HOME page only. All the other pages display properly.

However if I disable the “Hide URL language info. for default language” I am unable to switch away from Chinese (traditional) on the HOME page only.

I have reset qTranslate-x to default settings but it did not help.

    Any ideas?

First install the latest Beta version of qTranslate X.
    You can download it here.

Do not use install via WordPress admin!
    First unzip the new file.
Deactivate the existing version of qTranslate in WordPress admin.
Then with FTP delete all files in the existing qtranslate-x folder and after that copy all new files in it.
Activate qTranslate-x again via WordPress admin.

If it still does not work, then specify what plugins and theme that you use.

Also what settings do you have set for qTranslate?

Have you previously used a different version of qTranslate?

Tried that…. still not working ??

    qTranslate has been reset.

Yes, I migrated from qTranslate to mqTranslate and then to qTranslate-x.

    FYI:
o When I HIDE the default language ONLY the HOME page translation DOES work properly.
o When I SHOW the default language ONLY the HOME page translation DOES NOT work.

In 2014, our default theme lets you create a responsive magazine website with a sleek, modern design. Feature your favorite homepage content in either a grid or a slider. Use the three widget areas to customize your website, and change your content’s layout with a full-width page template and a contributor page to show off your authors. Creating a magazine website with WordPress has never been easier.

    Have you read this?

Deactivate, temporarily, all other plugins and see if that makes a difference.
If so, then activate them one by one to see where it goes wrong.

Try it also with a standard WP theme.

Test this with – HIDE the default language checked and Pre=path mode.

    Thanks Gunu

No change when I de-activate all the other plugins.

Translation WORKS when I use the default TwentyFourteen Theme.

Can you see what is causing the current theme to have issues.

FYI: The Pr. Update archives on the right on the Pr. page also does not show properly (as they used to before).

    Hello,

I had the same issue, if I was in the home page and changed it to the secondary language, afterwards I could not go back to main language. I also had similar issues with specific pages that get some sort of assignment, like woocommerce, but I never got to the bottom of it.

I got rid of this problem by disabling the “hide the default language”. After disabling this option I had no more troubles switching languages in the homepage (btw, I use pre-path mode).

It ain’t so pretty anymore having the language hanging in the URL all the time but it works and I believe it also improved performance slightly as some redirecting seemed to be involved in the hiding of the default language in the URL.
