Unable to set up plugin

  • Hello, I have tried to set up this plugin but am having no luck getting it working at all. I’ve tried to follow the instructions provided but they do not seem very user friendly and I feel completely lost with this. I’m hoping someone can help me out.

    I have an existing contact form where I allow visitors to enter their email address exclusively (no name). It it styled perfectly for the website and do not want to change this at all. I’d like to connect it with a Mailpoet subscriber list so when their email is entered it is added to Mailpoet.

    This is what I’ve done so far:
    1. I’ve added a “phone” custom field to the mailpoet signup form.
    2. I’ve clicked on “Mailpoet custom field” in my existing contact form 7 which has given me the following: “[MailPoet Custom field name: phone
    Custom field ID (which should be used as contact form’s field name): cf_5]”
    3. I’ve created a field in my existing contact form 7 “[tel cf_5]”. This is the same type of field shown in instructions provided.
    4. I’ve generated the mailpoetsignup tag and selected the desired list.

    Now when I save the form and look at it on the live website, all that has happened is an extra field for [tel cf_5] has been added to the form which is useless for the purpose of the form.

    I have obviously missed some steps because this is not working at all, and the instructions don’t provide any further clarity. Any help would be appreciated!

    Anyway if you just want to subscribe your visitor through email field, just add an email field and signup field. You don’t need custom field in that regards. So the final output of the contact form will look like this:

    <label> Your Email (required)
    [email* your-email] </label>

[mailpoetsignup mailpoetsignup-345 list:3]   --> generate this code with "Mailpoet Signup" button

[submit "Send"]
