    Hello Sir,
I am trying to create a Custom Skin to display my Recipes. I want a design that looks like this– https://prntscr.com/11cx1uo

I have attempted the design using Elementor Pro and Elementor Custom Skin. So far, I am making some progress in the design.

But some things are still missing:
1.) When Elementor’s image widget is selected, it doesn’t see the Taxonomy Images of Delicious Recipes. The downside is that I am not able to show the Recipe Keys Image of each recipe. I am also not able to show the Images of Cuisines and Courses, just as is shown on the sample design I showed you– https://prntscr.com/11cx1uo

That design is gotten from here– https://www.chelseasmessyapron.com/ when you scroll down to her New Recipes section.

So, Elementor doesn’t see the Taxonomy of Delicious Recipes, I am not able to show the Recipe Keys Image of each Recipe, and I am also not able to show the Images of Cuisines and Courses in my design using Elementor’s Dynamic Tags.

2.) You can see from the sample(https://prntscr.com/11cx1uo) that it was possible to pull the Cooking Time of each Recipe dynamically into the the design.

But in my case, there was no way to see these metadata to call them into the Design.

How can these 2 issues be fixed?

3.) I noticed from Cooked Recipe Plugin, and WP Recipe Maker plugin that they have shortcodes, and these shortcodes make it possible for me to arrange my Template parts anyway I want. I’ve been searching for Delicious Recipes shortcodes and I’ve not found them.

Where are the shortcodes of Delicious Recipes?

Needing to hear from you soon.
    Regards

    Hi @gamicord,

Thank you for the reference design. We understand that what you are trying to achieve but you haven’t shown the results you are getting.

As previously communicated, we haven’t worked on Elementor yet. This is something we have planned to work on in the future. We don’t know how Elementor and Elementor Custom Skin works so it hard for us to say what might work and what might not.

If you are trying to achieve a similar kind of layout, you can hire a developer and ask him to code it. We have the filters available in the plugin. This approach will offer more flexibility.

Regarding the shortcode, I have already mentioned in another support topic. As of now, we don’t have a plan to include the shortcode for other recipe pages. We have provided the shortcodes for Recipe Search and Surprise Me feature. There are recipe blocks for achieving that. If we get several requests for the shortcodes in the future, we can explore this.

    Thank you.

Thanks very much for your reply. Do I like the reply? Hmm… I’m not sure.

1.) The Reference result I’m getting is here– https://dml.truesauce.com.ng/blog/

2.) I dislike this part and the tone of language:

If you are trying to achieve a similar kind of layout, you can hire a developer and ask him to code it. We have the filters available in the plugin. This approach will offer more flexibility/

The reason why I dislike that part is because WordPress Core Value is to give non-coders a flexibility to be able to get any kind of website they want without needing to code or hire anyone else, when tools are already available.

Delicious Recipes is already available. Elementor Pro and Elementor Custom Skin are all plugins that are already available to do the work that a developer would have been needed to do for me.

All that is needed for me now, is to use these three tools harmoniously. Presently I can see some of Delicious Recipes metadata.

It is your job to find out how to make what I’m asking for, to become a possibility. You do not run away from it and say to me “Hire a developer to code it“.

Please find a way to make it work.

3.) The reason why Delicious Recipes is still very limited is because you have a Static Template Model.

You must expand and open your mind to see ahead. Many people like me still depend on Page Builders like Elementor, Divi and so on.

Shortcodes help us break that Static Template into different movable parts, and place them in any order we please.

Why is this simple but intelligent thinking, too hard for you to understand?

Why do I need to push it, and push it, and push it, before it can get into your head?

Many people hate to work with Gutenberg because it’s problematic to work with. The earlier you get this reality into your head, the better for us all.

Please, give us our shortcode, and let us not have another exchange on this matter.

The other two competitors have this shortcode we are asking for.

    See here– https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/83-recipe-shortcodes

    and here– https://docs.cooked.pro/article/15-template-shortcodes

So, why do you make it look like we don’t understand what we are asking?

Please, give us our shortcode, and let us not have another exchange on this matter.

    Hi @gamicord,

We are sorry if our response has been unpleasant.

    1. Thank you for the URL.

    2. We do agree that users should have the flexibility to create their websites. There are certain things that cannot be done without coding. So, we recommended hiring a developer.

Yes, we do have a static template and predefined design. We have already mentioned earlier that we do have plans to include some more layouts and the ability to change the static templates in the future.

Regarding the plugins you are using, we haven’t tried with our plugin. We are not sure what information it can pull and it cannot pull. Sometimes, it also depends on the plugin that you are using whether it offers to pull the information or not.

    3. We are happy with our Static Template Model. We can consider flexibility in the future. This is not our topmost priority at the moment.

We have provided hooks and filters that allow changing the template but it requires coding. We will consider template customization without coding in the future.

Regarding the shortcodes and Gutenberg decision, we have addressed in another support topics here.

We also have plans for Elementor wigets for Delicious Recipes in the future.

    Thank you.

    2.)

There are certain things that cannot be done without coding. So, we recommended hiring a developer.

This statement is true and correct. But somehow, if you set your mind to it to help me, you may actually find a way.

It seems you are more interested in telling me what’s not possible, than actually willing to help me achieve something and make it possible.

I am actually not talking about changing the Template Design, or anything like that.

I am only saying that I want to be able to pull a part of the Template into my Custom Skin Design.

This part is where I’m actually looking at pulling into my design– https://prnt.sc/11myh4i

Perhaps you may help me write the code snippets and send to me, which when I insert somewhere in my website(maybe functions.php) may make it possible for me to achieve what I want?

You think this could be possible?

Needing to hear from you soon.

    Hi @gamicord,

We are sorry to inform that it is not possible for us to assist you on this matter.

    Finally, we’ve hit the roadblock.

I wish to be able to do some things myself with your plugin, but your Block approach created a Road Block.

I believe we are finally coming to terms to see that the shortcodes are a necessity because of the flexibility they bring above Blocks.

Shortcodes allow anything to be placed anywhere.

The second problem is getting these shortcodes to display as Dynamic Tags in Page Builders like Elementor.

I guess as communicated earlier, you guys are working on it, and from time to time, I will be following your progress.
