• Hello,
When I logged in for the 1st time to the site karavadra.net , it tried to login but didn’t. I closed the app and re-opened it and the site appeared.

Now I cant see any posts, pages, media or comments.

For Posts, it says Posts couldn’t be refreshed at this time with a Retry button which tried to fetch the Posts but within less than 1 second, the same message about the Posts couldn’t be refreshed appears.

With Pages, it says You haven’t published any pages yet, when I have.

New posts don’t get published saying We couldn’t complete this action.

Media says fetching media but nothing appears.

Comments says Loading but nothing appears.

Accessing https://karavadra.net/xmlrpc.php says XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

I’m seeing more or less the same thing in the mobile with another site (tryit.tv).

Can someone please help with this?

    Thank you,
    Bharat

  • Hi @bharatk,

It looks like Jetpack is connecting to a subdirectory of your main domain, karavadra.net/blog instead of karavadra.net. You can fix this by going to your WordPress Admin, then to Settings → General, and making sure both the ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ are set to ‘https://www.karavadra.net‘ instead of adding ‘/blog’. After saving these changes, reconnect Jetpack to your updated domain.

Jetpack relies on the <mark>xmlrpc</mark>.php file to connect with our systems so you might want to leave it as it is now, as I cans see the file is accessible at https://karavadra.net/xmlrpc.php

Once this is done, let us know if the issue persists.

    Hello @alinclamba ,
Thanks for the advice but both the WordPress and Site URL were https://karavadra.net with no ‘/blog/ after either of them.
Working with the host, we found a plugin that was causing a ‘site health’ REST API error. Not sure why but I disabled the plugin and the REST API error disappeared. However the WordPress app still doesn’t load the posts, pages, media nor comments.
I’ve updated the host and will update you here with any info.
In the meantime, if you have any suggestions then I’d appreciate them.
    Thank you,
    Bharat

Hello Bharat – could you please unlink your site from the WordPress application and then try to link the same site again. I see the WordPress is installed at https://karavadra.net so please use this same URL when linking the site again.

Also make sure you have latest updates version of WordPress App installed.

    Hello all,
Thank you all those you made suggestions and for your patience.

After my wonderful server guys looked into the situation, they discovered the server’s brute force protection was blocking access to the app (web access is OK even though that became temporarily inaccessible after using the mobile app).

They specifically switched off Litespeed WordPressProtect in the .htaccess file and the sites now work OK on the mobile app.

This is what they added in the .htaccess file:

    <IfModule Litespeed>
    WordPressProtect off
    </IfModule>

So, it seems how the mobile app accesses the server requires some attention.

    I hope this helps

    Regards,
    Bharat

Hello Bharat – thank you for sharing your findings regarding the issue with the mobile app access. I’m glad you were able to identify the root cause and resolve it.

It’s helpful to know that the server’s brute force protection was blocking access and that switching off Litespeed WordPressProtect in the .htaccess file resolved the issue. Your solution might indeed help other users who encounter similar problems in the future.

Third-party plugins can sometimes impose strict security measures that affect REST API or XML-RPC access, which are essential for applications and other services. It’s great to hear that everything is working smoothly now.

    Hello Animesh,
Note that we tested by switching off all the plugins and the mobile app still had the same issues.

It may be that the mobile app has very frequent server access which is causing brute force protection to activate blocks and preventing the app from functioning practically.

The app development team should be more aware of the workings of the app and why it’s causing brute force protection apps.

If you are able, it would be useful to pass on this discussion to the mobile app development team.

    Thank you.
