• Hey
When I search for a new plugin from the admin panel, I get an error:
“An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.”

Just before I give more details, I must say that I’m in a VPS that I have root access to.

I have researched this error, but everything I’ve done didn’t solve this, including when increasing the timeout settings.

Eventually I ended up downloading and installing the Core Control plugin, and enabling the external logging.

The log shows the following when I search for a plugin:
“http_request_failed” – Operation timed out after 15001 milliseconds with 2766 bytes received.

Then I though it’s problem with the server’s IPTABLES settings, so I turned it off, but still got the same message.

From the server itself, I am able to ping “api.www.remarpro.com” and telnet api.www.remarpro.com on port 80.

Right now I’m helpless and stuck with this issue…
By the way everything worked 100% fine few days ago. I have no idea what broke it.

  • I have the same problem, although I did not do the monitoring that you did. I am unable to search for plug-ins. I also cannot reinstall WordPress 3.3.1, which I thought to do in case I had some corrupted files. I only have this on my site hosted on GoDaddy, not on any sites hosted on Media Temple. Hmmmm.
