Unable to Search Media When Adding Attributes

When I am adding a value to an attribute, for example a color, I am unable to search the image media library for the image I need. So, when I click on Add new under the Value(s) drop box and then click Upload/Add image the image library opens, but I cannot click in the search box, nor can I edit the meta data. I have tried turning off all other plugins but cannot find a conflict. What are your thoughts?
