    Hi,

I have been trying to add to and update a table on my site and I keep getting this message when I hit save. (Saving failed: AJAX call successful, but unclear data. Try again while holding down the “Shift” key.) When I hold the shift key down and hit save, I then get a WordPress failure notice that says (Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again.) Any idea why this might be happening? Thanks

  • I am getting the same error, except when I hold down shift I get the message the table cannot be saved and I lose all entered data.

owenwww I’m not sure if this will help you but it’s worth a try. I was making edits in Chrome when I received the errors. I tried in Firefox and everything worked just fine. Give that a try.

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

This indeed sounds like browser or server issues.
If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please get in touch via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thanks for the suggestion Brian. I tried it but I believe it’s server-related.

I asked my host to disable mod_security after reading another thread but I still have the same issue ??

    Hi,

then it would be great if I could take a look on the site, see above.

Thanks Tobias. I have sent you an email and created an account on my site for you.

    Hi Owen,

thanks! I was able to log in and could reproduce the issue. From what I can
see, it’s somehow related to a server config issue that I have seen a
    couple of times now.
it’s not a PHP error, which is why it does not show up in the PHP
error logs, but more like a configuration thing in a webserver module
like mod_security or something like that.

Here’s an idea: It’s not a real fix, but more of a work around to that
    server problem.
The synopsis is that your server doesn’t like it when the “Table
    Description” field is completely empty.
So, simply using something like “(empty)” as the description (you can
use whatever you want) should allow the tables to be saved again.
I did this for one table and it worked.
So, until I can fix this permanently in TablePress (or until your host
can change the configuration), please try that.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thanks very much Tobias. I really appreciate your time. Brilliant support.

Thank you, Tobias, for your help. I was having some other issues with my site using Chrome as well. I reinstalled Chrome and tested a table and had no issues saving it this time. As of now, all is good. Thanks
