@emilrueh Sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with saving stories. Hopefully, we can determine the cause after gathering a few more details.

Could you check if you see any browser console errors when the story is trying to save? If you see an error, it would be great if we can get the _Response_ on the request too. Here’s how to do it:

– In the dev tools, go to the _Network tab_
– Find and select the request that failed under the _Name column_. It should be highlighted in red (you may need to refresh the page again).
– Go to the _Response tab_, and take a screenshot or copy/ paste what is there.

Could you check if the issue occurs in an incognito window with all other plugins disabled and when using a default theme?

Could you provide your Site Health information so that we can try to reproduce your issue with a similar setup? You can share privately if you prefer.

@emilrueh Thank you. The console errors that you shared indicate that there is some kind of interference from the multiple Cryptocurrency plugins by Cool Plugins that you have installed, which are blocking API responses. The Web Stories plugin needs to communicate with the REST API to load media, save changes, publish stories, etc. When recreating your issue on a test site, enabling those plugins caused issues with saving the story. You can temporarily disable those plugins to see if that makes a difference for you as well. It would be best to contact the plugin developer for further assistance with resolving this issue.

Currently in talks with the devs of cool plugins and apparently even after deactivation of all their plugins the stories can still not save. Please check that, thanks.

I have deactivated all crypto plugins by coolplugins on your test site – still I’m unable to edit web stories!

Our Coins Marketcap plugin load admin side script for menu management which is a general thing – if you think that it is conflicting with web stories then you can resolve it by editing coin-market-cap.php main plugins file inside coin-market-cap folder:-

But now our plugins are deactivated and still it is not working so the issue is not just from our plugins end.

@emilrueh Thanks for the update. Could you test if you can edit/save stories when Web Stories is the only plugin enabled and when using a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One? If Web Stories works on its own then we will know there are some other plugin/theme conflicts.

Use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. Troubleshooting mode provides non-permanent changes for the logged-in user only and it can be disabled as soon as it is no longer needed.

Hi @emilrueh,

This new information shows console errors with the Yoast SEO plugin as well as the Google Fonts API. Again, this seems to indicate that there is a conflict between one of your remaining plugins.

The best way to find what plugin is causing the issue is to use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin in Troubleshooting Mode:

• Download and install the plugin
• Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot
• Click the arrow next to Available Plugins and select Enable next to Web Stories
• Go to Stories > Dashboard and try to edit and save a story. If it is working successfully, it means that another one of your plugins is causing the issue.
• To determine which plugin is conflicting, click Troubleshooting Mode in the WP top admin bar and under Available Plugins, click Enable for one, then test again
• If you stop being able to save after enabling a plugin, that indicates that that plugin is conflicting with Web Stories

As Luckyna suggested, you should also test if you can edit/save stories when Web Stories is the only plugin enabled and when using a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One? If Web Stories works on its own then we will know there are some other plugin/theme conflicts.

Hi @emilrueh CORS issues should not keep you from saving stories. Saving would only be blocked if there is something blocking API responses.

Guys, rolling back your update this issue is not happening which certainly means your update is causing it!
Need assistance and not you pointing fingers to other plugin developers.

The issue with your plugin we believe is with the chunk-html-to-image.js file

First of all, glad to hear that downgrading the plugin worked for you.

Second, you can ignore these html-to-image messages. They are not related to saving. However, they say that your site tries to load non-existent fonts like static2.sharepointonline.com/files/fabric/assets/fonts/leelawadeeui-thai/leelawadeeui-semibold.woff2. This font is not coming from the Web Stories plugin. You should fix whatever plugin, theme or browser extension is loading this non-existent font to get rid of these noisy warnings.

That said, the following error message from your log is the likely culprit for this behavior you’re seeing:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading ‘resource’)
at OutputPage (wp-story-editor.js:38:12197)

I was able to reproduce this issue locally and will make sure we get this fixed in our next release, which is planned for end of the month.

In the meantime, a possible workaround for you would be to delete the very last page of your https://nonfungibleownership.com/web-stories/cometh-must-review/ story and then create this page anew.
