I installed this plugin today. WordPress is up to date with 5.9.

After installing the plugin, I was trying to update an existing post. I was not even trying to use any of the plugins features. This was a simple quick edit to an existing post, and then try to press the update button.

It crashed the site, giving a 504 error and requiring the PHP engine to be restarted on the server. After a restart, the post showed an error message “invalid JSON” command at the top.

This happened multiple times so i gave up and disabled the plugin.

    Hi @whistlerdan

We’re sorry to hear that you encountered some problems with the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin.

Just to clarify, if you were to temporarily disable the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin, are you then able to update the existing post without any issues?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

With a default WP theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only Yoast Duplicate Post plugin as the plugin enabled, you can try and reproduce the issue. Then activate your preferred theme and your plugins, one by one, until you are able to reproduce the conflict.
