Hi there – I opened a topic on this issue 2 days ago but I was not helped.

    Here goes again:

I’m using the Gutenverse plugin alongside the Travey template.

I successfully created my homepage but. but when I added the rest (about, blog, contact etc.) and tried to edit them using the block editor it returns a “saving failed” error for any changes.

    Please help

  • I am encountering the same issue. I have created all the content to be displayed on the “Front Page” of the Zeever Template, but anytime I edit anything on the template, I am unable to save any changes. I have tried saving the content as reusable blocks and putting them into the template that way, no luck. I have tried saving the content by making it a “template part” also with no luck. I’m confused as to why this is considered a template if nothing is able to be changed. Also why would I want “Zeever” as my own websites homepage? It doesn’t make sense really. Please guide me on how this issue can be fixed.

    Hi @jaywalktwice & @peterduffy87 ,

Sorry for the late reply, our support is a little bit delayed on weekend.

We need to know a few info regarding the issue :
    1. Is there other plugin activated when you use Gutenverse? Try deactivate other plugins one by one and see if one of it causing the issue.
    2. Try also deactivating Gutenverse, in the editor add a random block and try to save. Can you still save the changes?

Let us know about the result.
We need to know if this is plugin issue or not.

    Thank you.

    Hi

    1. I’ve disabled all other plugins one by one when I am using Gutenverse and no change – still “saving failed”.
    2. I deactivated Gutenverse and all other plugins, but when I head to the page editor I don’t get the drop down of the travey templates as before (about, blog, etc). Instead its just the default template with the page title.

In addition, the option to edit the template is gone since I deactivated Gutenverse.

    Please see screenshots:

    1. Gutenverse activated:

    2. Option to edit page template available – gutenverse activated:

3.Option to edit template unavailable – gutenverse deactivated:

    Hope this helps

    Hi @jaywalktwice ,

If you deactivate Gutenverse, try editing from full site editor instead of page editor. You can go to full site editor from Dashboard->Appearance->Editor.
Add a random block, then try to save.
If the save failed even after deactivating Gutenverse, then that’s mean the issue is not from the plugin.

Also here are some recommendations from us that might help solve the issue :
    1. Refresh your permalink, go to Dashboard->Settings->Permalink and try to changes the permalink.
    2. Check your site health, go to Dashboard->Tools->Site Health, in the Status section, check if the REST API is being blocked and also fix other issues you see there.
    3. Check your web’s firewall service, there is a chance that the service may block your REST API calls. This can cause issue because WordPress mostly uses REST API inside the editor.
    4. Check your php error logs, see if there is any error at the time you’re trying to save.

Let us know about the result.

    Thank you.

    Hi @jegstudio

    I don’t think we’re understanding each other.

Deactivating the Gutenverse and editing through Dashboard->Appearance->Editor does not output a “saving failed”. If I may add, activating the plugin and editing through Dashboard->Appearance->Editor never gave any issue. Like I previously outlined, my homepage/frontpage saves changes just fine. It’s only when I attempt to edit the other pages using the provided templates, (about, blog, contact etc.) that I cannot “update my changes” please see my screenshots for better understanding.

    As per your recommendations:
    1. I’ve changed my permalinks to no avail.
    2. I’ve had a look at my site health and REST API is available.
    3. Firewall isn’t blocking my REST API calls.
    4. Php error logs don’t reveal anything peculiar

I jsut want to reiterate one more time – the “saving failed” only appears when I’m making changes to the other pages and through their corresponding templates (in the block editor)

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @jaywalktwice ,

We mentioned to try edit through full site editor because you cannot access the custom templates if you deactivate the plugin, and inside the fse you can edit the core template directly.
All this is to check if the save is still failed even if you used core templates and no plugin activated.
If the save is failed inside the page editor, full site editor should experience the same because technically they use the same editor.
It’s odd that this only happened inside the page editor though, and we try to replicate this on our side and still can’t find the cause.
Could you inspect/use developer console inside the browser and see if there is any error message after clicking save?

    Hi @jegstudio

So I made edits to the Archive template in the FSE with the plugin deactivated – and it saved the changes.

I tried the same for the index template too – and it worked too.

There appears to be an error message in the inspect console:

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @jaywalktwice ,

It seems there is a permission issue from the server when trying to save the template.
Please check this topic for a possible solution.
And please remember to backup your website first.

    Hi @jaywalktwice ,

Thank you for the kind words.

There were two different issues, one is general issue not from plugin and one is from the plugin.
The general issue is with permalink, and the other is issue with some servers could not save our templates because of the section markup.
We decided to provide fixes for both.

If you don’t mind, please leave us a review about your experience using our plugin.
It will help us a lot to grow the community, and motivate us to improve our plugin, adding features and provide the best experience for our users.

We will close this topic for now.

    Best regards.

I am still having this problem even after updating.
