What exactly did you do before all these issues happened?

My WordPress site automatically updated last week to a newer version

And this morning I verified my domain with facebook by doing this…

    1) Download the HTML verification file.
    2) Upload the file to the root directory of your website. You will be able to see that it is uploading at the link provided in the HTML File Upload tab.
    3) Once it is done, click the Verify button at the bottom of the HTML File Verification tab for the selected domain.
    4) Leave the HTML verification file in your website’s root directory as it may be checked periodically for verification purposes.

iPage have told me I have an issue with a theme or a plug-in

I reversed the Facebook verification and I have the same problem still. When I deactivate all of my plug-ins I also still have the same problem

    Any ideas?

From what version to the “newer version” (latest version is 5.1.1).

My site is always up-to-date so it would’ve been the release before 5.1.1

Try MANUALLY updating. Download WordPress again and unzip it, and use that to copy up. Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. (NOTE: do not delete the?wp-content?directory or your?wp-config.php?file). Please read the Manual Update directions first.

Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

Thanks @t-p we’ve done what you recommended

My website now lets me update my blog posts without the error coming up. However, 2 plug-ins still won’t run when I try them. I get the same error message as before:

Unexpected response: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN”>
    <html><head>
    <title>403 Forbidden</title>

    </body></html>

Please post in those plugin’s dedicated forum via its page in the Plugin Repository so the plugins’ developers and support community can help you with this.
