    Hi there,

Fantastic plugin! I have it running on all my WordPress sites.

But unfortunately I am unable to run Wordfence on one of them. When I hit “Start a Wordfence Scan” nothing happens and I receive no error messages.

I have another site with the same web host that runs Wordfence fine.

I’m afraid I can’t share the link to the site on a public forum as the site is still under development.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Caroline

  • I just installed wordfence 3.3.7 on a multisite install that’s sort of public ready and got the same issue – clicking the save settings/options buttons doesn’t work, nor does the scan now button.

Strangely, the save options buttons show the successful save message even if they’ve not been clicked.

This is on a VPS rather than shared hosting – finding this rather strange as word fence works on a couple of other sites I have in shared hosting with the same provider.

    Hi Caroline,

Can you check if you are seeing any errors in your web server error logs?

    Thanks,

    Mark.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply. Here is the error message:

[Mon Oct 29 02:35:37 2012] [error] [client xxx] File does not exist: /home/xxxconz/public_html/wp-content, referer: https://xxx.co.nz/wordpress/wp-admin/admin.php?page=Wordfence

I can see that the path to wp-content is incorrect, as the site is currently installed at https://xxx.co.nz/wordpress/ not https://xxx.co.nz/

    Thanks,
    Caroline

    Thanks Caroline,

It looks like there may be an issue with subdirectory installations. I’ve filed a high priority issue to investigate this. Thanks for the detailed report.

Also can you tell me if there is anything else I should know about your installation. e.g. is it a multi-site install? Or do you have anything else custom about it?

    Regards,

    Mark.

    Thanks Mark.

No, it is not a multisite or customised install.

I’m having exactly the same problem.
    single subdirectory site install.

Just a quick update that a fix for this is going out in the next few hours.

I’m having the same issue, with a standard single-domain install, but I’m not getting any errors logged.

    Any clues?

The same problem here. Scan doesn’t run. What is the solution? Thank you.

    (@disonancias)

Sorry for the delay. With the latest updates, it’s working fine now. Thanks!

Hi, I’m having the same problem. I installed Wordfence on one of my sites with no problem. Loved it!
I then installed Wordfence on my main domain, but now the first domain doesn’t work.
Won’t scan, no new options can be saved. I’ve tried re-installing to no avail. The settings/plugins/permissions for the two sites are identical as far as I can tell.
    Help?
    Thanks!

    Hello,

Same problem. I start running a scan and it initiates, prepares for scan, and fetches the list of malware, core, theme and plugin file signatures from Wordfence, then starts to scan files even but always stops after analyzing 5,200 files. The animation keeps showing the “in progress” bar for hours.

Scan doesn’t start, nothing in the logs. OMG, what to do?!

Weird thing is that I have about 30 sites on same server, installed on about 15 with no issues then one just wont scan …
