My permissions are confirmed fine by my webhosting, but when I try to do expert caching on this plugin and get the mod rewrite update, I get this error:

The plugin could not update /home/succule1/shop.succulentscribbles.com/.htaccess file:?Page test failed as pages did not match with new .htaccess rules.
Enable debug log on Debugging page for further details and try again
    .

    Here is the debugging login:

Fix problems with the plugin by debugging it here. It will log to a file in your cache directory.

I’m not sure what to do or how to fix this.

Hello @fyrakins – first of all, thank you so much for your patience! I sincerely appreciate it. I’m checking with our team on what else could cause the issue and will get back to you as soon as we get some info.

Sorry for the late reply @fyrakins. This means that there was a problem updating the .htaccess file used by Apache to give your site proper permalinks. Before that file is modified, the file is backed up, and in this case the backup was restored when a test was performed on your site.

If you try it again, the plugin dumps the two test files in wp-content/cache/ as two .txt files. If you like, compare them, but it probably won’t help much. The problem may be in your .htaccess file and that’s something we can’t help with.

I recommend using simple caching. It’s going to be just as fast serving cache files as the expert caching, and it’s a lot easier to get working.

    Hello @fyrakins,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no activity, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
