Unable to resume installation, deactivate or delete Wordfence
-
Hi,
I’m hosting wordpress in my DigitalOcean Ubuntu 23.10 droplet.
Installation went fine. My wordpress site is online.I wanted to harden security so I installed the wordfence addon.
Immediately after, it asked me to resume the installation because apparently it needs a key. It brings me to the wordfence website where I choose the free license to test it out.
I get the serial and the email I chose. I first tried the automatic installation, which failed but I saved the serial and email.
When I enter it in the addon manually, it gives me the error:“An error occurred while installing your license key. Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact Wordfence Support“
Any attempt to make it work failed so I wanted to remove the addon.
Deactivating the addon and choosing to remove all data and tables gives me this error:
“An unexpected error occurred while attempting to configure Wordfence to delete its data on deactivation.”
Choosing “Remind me later” on the “complete installation” bar on the top gives me this error:
“An unexpected error occurred while attempting to dismiss the notice. Please try again.”
This addon seems completely broken and I would like to fully remove it.
Does anyone have the list of steps to perform?
Thank you
