    Hello,

I have a website I cannot connect to WordFence central. My other sites have connected with no problem. My SSL certificate doesn’t seem to be an issue.

    Any thoughts?

If I get premium do you think someone could help? I’d prefer not to pay for it and it still doesn’t work.

Hi @klngroup, thanks for getting in touch. I cannot discuss Wordfence Premium in detail on the forums, but we are active on the forums Monday-Friday and always do our best to provide our free customers with the highest level of support.

I’ve just run a test from my end, Wordfence Central uses the WordPress REST API to communicate with the plugin and it looks like this is enabled so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Head over to Wordfence Central, go to the Connection Issues tab. Clear out any sites that might be in here. Then access your site and log in as an admin. Navigate to Tools > Diagnostics > Other Tests > Clear all Wordfence Central connection data. Clear the connection data and then from the Wordfence Dashboard, click on “Connect this site” in the Wordfence Central widget.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/central/connect/#troubleshooting-connection-issues also has some troubleshooting steps you could follow.

Let me know how you get on, and if none of the steps above work, drop us a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com. You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Thanks @klngroup,

I will be happy to further assist, using your diagnostic for reference, if you have any further issues connecting this site using the troubleshooting advice.

    Thank you for your feedback.

I’m looking at it now. I’m going to number the steps for easier trouble shooting.

    1) Connection Issues Tab is clear – There wasn’t any
    2) There is a connectivity issue
wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
    3) Cleared all Wordfence Central connection Data
    4) The connectivity issue is still there
    5) When I go to the Dashboard it says ‘Reconnect This Site’ so I don’t think it is fully cleared everything.
    6) I get the same error.

I’m not sure it isn’t a Incapsula or CDN issue. This is a service provided for free by Blue Host and I don’t see how to add Whitelist or Allow options? I turn it off and will check again tomorrow.

    Hi @klngroup,

Did you get a chance to check again? By the looks of the cURL error, the SSL certificate problem can be caused by either the way the host has set up the certificate, a 3rd party plugin or the WordPress configuration. Reaching out to your host would be a good start in case they need to allow anything from their end.

I would still be happy to view your site diagnostic, which can be sent using the instructions in my original message. There might be some information about your hosting environment or plugins that could help find the cause.

    Thanks again,

    Peter.

It works, yeah. It took a while but, finally (just last night), Bluehost was able to find the issue.

I truly do appreciate your help and response.

Do you know if using Bluehost free CDN will cause any issues. I cannot Whitelist any IP addresses with they free version.

    Thank you again,

    Hi @klngroup,

It is my understanding you’re referring to Bluehost providing Cloudflare for free to hosting customers. To my knowledge customers do have to whitelist our IPs sometimes in Cloudflare to ensure scans work, but if you’re running Wordfence on this platform currently without issue then this limitation doesn’t seem to be affecting things. Hosts will sometimes allow our IPs from their end for customers by default, so that would also prevent problems for you.

For reference, you can find our IPs here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/#servers-and-ip-range

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

First I want to thank you for your support. I appreciate it. You have been a big help.

Bluehost says they are having issues with their Free CloudFlare and not to use it. Rather go to CloudFlare itself, create an account and use it from there. I will look into this in the coming week or so (my sites or small and local).

    Thank you again.

    Hi @klngroup,

No problem at all, let us know how you get on!
