Unable to remove the Advanced Ads plugin

    Hello,

    I have tried the Advanced Ads plugin but no longer require it.

    I am currently unable to remove it from my installation. I have tried to deactivate it several times but it does not deactivate itself. Luckily, I was able to disable ads in the frontend through settings. Yet now I am unable to see the Ads as the system tells me: “You need a higher level of permission. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit posts in this post type”.

    I want to completely remove the plugin from my system. How can I do so, please?

    at first: sorry for the trouble!

    I’m not sure what can cause things like that, so I am just listing some ideas how I would approach things like this:

    -> Please try to delete all caches (from cache plugins, browser cache, server cache) and all cookies. Then re-login and try again. Does it work?

    -> Please check the owner and file permissions from the plugin folder. Sometimes there is a mismatch between the ftp user and the php user. For file permissions the rule of thumb is: 755 for folders and 644 for files.

    -> Please try to deactivate all other plugins (if possible), especially if they customize things like user roles or capabilities. Then try again. Does it work now?

    -> If all of this does not work out you can always just delete the Advanced Ads plugin folder via (Web-)FTP. It is better to use the uninstall within WP, because this cleans up some things in the DB, but to get rid of the plugin this should always work.

    Hello, Torsten:

    Many thanks for your speedy response. When I try to deactivate plugin the popup tells me that the “Plugin deactivated” but it stays in the dashboard as enabled.

    Will have to go for the folder delete, then.
