I’m having a problem with the shopping cart for a new site. Items can be added to the cart but once in the cart, items cannot be removed using the little x. The only way to remove them is to reduce their number and update the cart.

I have tried some of the obvious things to fix this:

    – everything is up to date
    – the theme being used for the site is Salient but the issue is the same with the 2015 theme
    – the problem persists if all plugins other than WooCommerce are deactivated
    – no caching plugins are installed except Wordfence, which does not have caching enabled
    – permalinks have been resaved (post name) and for good measure the database repaired

Is there anything else I can try? could this be a server side issue? Any suggestions/potential solutions greatly appreciated.

It could be server side caching such as vagrant, however, it sounds more like a template issue even though you said it was broken in 2015.

Maybe you can provide a link + your system status report.

Thanks Mike, upon checking the system status report there was a warning about the basket not being publicly visible. So then went to checkout in WooCommerce settings and realised the basket page wasn’t actually assigned to a page. Now the page is assigned, it’s working fine. Sometimes it’s the simple things!
