Unable to reach www.remarpro.com, cURL error 7: couldn’t connect to host

    It’s been a few weeks now that my site is unable to connect to www.remarpro.com. When I try to add plugins from WordPress’ admin dashboard it gives me an error message similar to:
    An unexpected error happened. Something may go wrong with www.remarpro.com or the configuration of this server. If you still have problems, please try the support forums.

    I’ve done some workarounds to be able to work correctly, but I need to fix it. Following different posts I found online I’ve tried different things, but nothing worked so far. I’ve installed Health Checker and it gives 2 errors:

    Communicating with www.remarpro.com:
    Unable to reach www.remarpro.com at 66.155.40.250: cURL error 7: couldn’t connect to host

    Loopback request:
    The loopback request to your site failed, this may prevent WP_Cron from working, along with theme and plugin editors.<br>Error encountered: (0) cURL error 7: couldn’t connect to host

    I also get an orange dash on the following section:
    Scheduled events
    A scheduled event (nxs_querypost_event) has failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.

    Of course, I’ve tried changing themes, I tried with Twenty Sixteen, I tried disabling all plugins.

    My hosting is provided by OVH, and I have the Professional plan.

    What other information would be useful to troubleshoot this error?

  • I’d recommend these two procedures:

    -Ask your Web Host to either disable or change SElinux to permissive.
    -Check your version of openSSL, if you’re using an old one, you may not be able to connect to the WP download servers.

    Hello, and thanks for the reply Mateus! It took me a couple days getting an answer from my hosting provider.

    I asked about the SElinux, and they told me that since it was a shared hosting, they couldn’t change the settings. They suggested me to upgrade to a VPS. Of course I do not need a VPS for a WordPress website that cannot connect to www.remarpro.com, especially when I’m not even sure that’s going to fix the issue…

    I will try and convince them to fin another way, but I’m guessing it’s not going to be possible. Any other thing to check???

    Regarding the SSL, I completely deactivated the SSL and still it didn’t make a difference…

    Any thoughts?

    My hosting provider said that my site is requesting an excessive number of TCP connections, which made the automatic system to block TCP connections. I’ve made some changes in order to make the site lighter and see if that changes… Would that be what’s preventing the site from accessing www.remarpro.com server?
