Unable to Publish Site created using WordPress and hosted with Bulehost hosting

  • I have create the site framework for the jithbiz.com using wordpress. I am not familiar with WordPress site publishing (though I am familiar with .html set-up). The hosting plan is with Bluehost and I find their support little slow and incomplete.

    Please find the information as per General setting:
    Information JithBiz
    Site Title (left blank)
    Tagline (left blank)
    In a few words, explain what this site is about.
    WordPress Address (URL) https://www.jithbiz.com/JBz
    Site Address (URL) https://www.jithbiz.com
    Enter the address here if you want your site home page to be different from your WordPress installation directory.

    I have couple of questions to understand the site publishing process.
    1. The site should be created on the PC or the WordPress link provided by the hosting company
    2. Can the site be published without using the FTP
    3 When the WordPress installation is done on the hosting service provider what are the steps needed to publish the site
    4. What the files that need to be uploaded to the server (e.g. index.php (not familiar with php – hence provide detailed information)
    5. When the files are published on the server the content will be fetched from the existing set-up i.e. connection to database setting need to be changed?

    Appreciate if you could provide simple and easy to follow steps to publish the site.

    You can do that in either location.

    2. Can the site be published without using the FTP

    You can direct-upload to BlueHost either with FileZilla or whatever and an FTP (preferably SFTP) connection or you can use cPanel > File Manager at BlueHost for doing that…but I do not think that is what you are actually trying to ask. “Publish” is a WordPress Dashboard term for whether or not a given page or post is actually being displayed along with all others.

    3 When the WordPress installation is done on the hosting service provider what are the steps needed to publish the site

    The site will have been “live” from the very beginning unless you had first done something to make it private, password-protected or in some other way inaccessible.

    4. What the files that need to be uploaded to the server (e.g. index.php (not familiar with php – hence provide detailed information)

    The files needed to transfer, copy or move a site from one server to another are typically the /wp-content/ folder, wp-config.php, an exported copy of the SQL database and possibly .htaccess. All others can come from a fresh download of WordPress.

    5. When the files are published on the server the content will be fetched from the existing set-up i.e. connection to database setting need to be changed?

    After transferring, copying or moving the /wp-content/ folder, wp-config.php and the database, the database must be updated to recognize and use the new URL.
