Unable to publish new pages

A couple of days ago I updated a few plug-ins and the site crashed. I deactivated all plug-ins and slowly was able to get the site up (more or less), by activating plug-ins one by one in order to find the updates that were causing the crash. However, now that the site is back up, I am unable to publish new pages. I can save drafts and preview the new pages with no problem. But when I go to publish them, the small round “clock” icon starts to turn, but the pages never publish and the icon never finishes “turning”. Any suggestions on what I could do? Thanks in advance.
