Unable to publish after upgrading to 2.1

  • Hi, I’m not able to publish my post after upgrading my WordPress to 2.1. When I hit on the publish button, it will bring me to a page, asking if I want to edit the post. No matter if I hit No or Yes, it will bring me back to the blank Write Post page and the entry that I had typed is gone.

    Is it something that I had did wrongly for the upgrade?

    I had followed the steps in the upgrading instructions, deactivate plugins, backup all the files and folders then overwrite all the files except wp-content directory and wp-config.php, run upgrade.php and re-activate plugins.

    I have run into a similar issue on wordpress.com. It is saving as a draft. Go to your drafts, copy the content you were trying to publish, delete the draft and then paste the content into a new post and it should work just fine.

    As a workaround now, I will have to first save the post as a draft then I will be able to publish it. But it’s just too troublesome going thru the extra step.

    Okay. But bear in mind that the upgrade instructions actually say to *delete* the old files before uploading the new ones. That’s different than overwriting the old files.

    The issue is that, if you just overwrite the old files, sometimes the uploading doesn’t replace all the files, and leaves you open to problems.

    (I’ve been building websites for 10 years, and would never have believed this until it happened to me.)

    I’m facing same problem, After clicking on PUBLISH button, its showing error 404 .. Is there any solution for this ?
