    Hi,

    I have been running my website for 2-3years using woocommerce and stripe.
    Since last, I have been having error about stripe.
    The message I get is as below.

    Unable to process this payment, please try again or use alternative method.

    I tried the test mode but still getting the same error.
    I have not been adding any plugin and don’t know the reason for this.

    I really appreciate if someone help me.

    Checking your site’s SSR, I only found that you have Outdated Templates: ? that you can correct by following our guide here: Fixing Outdated WooCommerce Templates

    It looks like a third-party plugin or your theme might be causing the conflict here.

    For us to investigate this further, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce and Stripe plugins are enabled, create a test order using Stripe Test Mode and see if this works?

    If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

    If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

    thanks for quick reply!!
    I am in hurry so I just cahnged to default Storefront theme that you shown.
    Also disabled all plugins except “WooCommerce” and “WooCommerce Stripe Gateway”
    Then I changed to test mode at stripe site and tried purchacing using test card.

    Now error message has change from
    “Unable to process this payment, please try again or use alternative method.”
    to “The card was declined.”
    So maybe it was plugin and theme problem??
    In any case there’s still error and can’t proceed although error message has changed.

    Following your instruction, I got fetal issue(there was!) and attch it here.

    Now error message has change from
    “Unable to process this payment, please try again or use alternative method.”
    to “The card was declined.”
    So maybe it was plugin and theme problem??

    That is more than likely the case. To see which plugin is causing the issue, you can enable them one by one, checking after each, to identify the culprit.

    In any case there’s still error and can’t proceed although error message has changed.

    If this is not yet already enabled, would you mind enabling the logging for Stripe by heading to?WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Stripe?

    Next, click “Settings”, scroll down to Advanced Settings,?and enable “Log error messages”:

    Once that is enabled, please try to make a test order to generate logs.

    After that, please check?WooCommerce → Status → Logs, select the latest Stripe from the dropdown at the top right, and click “View”. Please share those results with us here.

    I would like to clear the situation.
    I changed the theme to default Storefront, and disabled all plugin except “WooCommerce” and “WooCommerce Stripe Gateway”.
    And getting error message “The card was declined.”

    Now thanks for the reply!!
    Follwing to your message, I checked “Log error messages“.
    And changed to test mode in stripe site and try to make payment.

    I got the same message The card was declined.”
    And I checked “Woocommerce -> Status -> Logs”
    but it seems there is no log has genereted.

    I think I followed the steps correctly…

    Now one thing I noticed is there is “WooCommerce Payments” shown in
    WooCommerce -> Extentions -> My Subscriptions.
    This is not related to the error I’m encountering now, right?

    I would like to clear the situation.

    If you’re switching to test mode from the Stripe dashboard only as shown in the screenshot, then that explains the “card declined” error as you’re still in live mode and using a test card.

    To switch to test mode, please navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe > Manage:

    Thanks for the update.
    It seems I didn’t know how to run test mode.
    I followed your step and manged to change it to test mode and got log.

    But I found out the reason that the cart didn’t work.
    I was using the plugin
    Checkout Field Editor for WooCommerce (Pro)
    and just relaized the license was out of date.
    I renewed the license and now the cart works!!

    I am very sorry for that it was very easy mistake and
    really apprecaite you guys tried to sort my problem out!!
