unable to post comment

  • I upgraded to 3.0 and everything appeared to be working correctly. Then I tried to post a comment to a post and received a blank page.

    Went back to 2.9.2 and still having the same problem. Can anyone suggest something that may correct his.

    Can write a new post to the database, but not a comment to a post.

  • Did you roll the database back down to 2.9.2 or just swap the files? If it’s the latter, upload the 3.0 files again first. Then try:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I have tried each of the above fixes with no positive result. I was looking at my database with phpmyadmin and noticed the following warnings in wp_comment

    Warning More than one INDEX key was created for column comment_approved
    Warning More than one INDEX key was created for column comment_post_ID

    Do you think this could be causing the problem? If so, would there be a fix?

    Also, how do I know that the database has been updated for 3.0. It seems that it too way to short to do it. My database is 6M.

    Access your database and look for the db_version number in the wp_options table. If it’s 15260, it’s a 3.0 db. The version number for 2.9 was 12329.
