    Hello,

I’m having a very unusual problem after having updated Flowplayer from version 1.8.1 to version 1.9.3.

We have two videos on our site, on different pages. One is on our home page and is set to pre-load but not to auto-play. The other is on a landing page and is set to pre-load and auto-play. We are using a poster image instead of a splash image, so that we can use the auto-play feature.

The problem is on the video that doesn’t auto-play. When you press the play button nothing happens. I looked in the Google Developer Tools console, and am seeing the following error when pressing the play button…

“Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘play’ of undefined” in flowplayer.min.js?ver=5.5.0:6

For the moment I am reversing the plugin back to version 1.8.1 until we can solve this problem. So if you visit our site, we are going back to the older version until we hear from you.

Lastly, we are using WordPress 4.0. We’ve never had any problems with Flowplayer until now, nor have we ever had any conflicts with our theme or plugins. This appears to be directly related to changes with this latest update.

I hope you can shed some light on this…

    Thanks for your help!

    ~ Michael

    Hello Michael,

Could you please export the videos by going to Tools-> Export and only choosing videos, and share with me?

I can then debug it on my test site.

    Thanks,

    Ulrich

    Hi Ulrich,

Thanks for you quick response! I’m trying to get all our plugins up to date, and this is one of the remaining few.

Are you saying you want the actual video files from me? I can easily supply that without having to export them. Here are the URLs to the videos…

    MP4

    [video src="https://www.digitalrage.com/wp-content/uploads/dr_Videos_Flowplayer_IgnitingIdeas_01_930x414px_R.11.04.2013.mp4" /]

    WEBM

    [video src="https://www.digitalrage.com/wp-content/uploads/dr_Videos_Flowplayer_IgnitingIdeas_01_930x414px_R.06.08.2014.webm" /]

I can send this other ways as well if you need, such as with FTP. Do you think the problem is in the video files?

One thing I forgot to mention last time was that I test this in both Chrome and Firefox, and had the same problem in each. Just in case you were thinking its a Chrome specific issue, it appears not to be.

Our WEBM video has been tweaked a lot, and should be trouble free. The MP4 version we had scheduled to improve a little in quality.

Anyways, I hope we can figure this out…

Could you export the videos CPT so that I can import it in my development site? This way I get the links to your videos and also the configuration where the problem may lie.

    Hi Ulrich,

I understand, and have just created the export file for you. This is one of the few functions in WordPress I haven’t used before. It looks like it will allow you to load our video content directly from our site. Am I correct?

I have the file here, and need to send it to you. I’d be more comfortable emailing this. What’s your email address?

I think so, I have not done an import in some time but I am just testing a few videos so that should not put much load on your server.

You can send the file via my contact form. https://ulrich.pogson.ch/contact-me

    Hi Ulrich,

There isn’t a way to attach a file with that form. Unless you want me to just paste the xml file directly into the email itself.

I added a upload button but it does not seem to work.

    Hi Ulrich,

I just emailed you with the file. Please let me know that you received it.

Thanks for your help with this!

For anyone reading this post, this problem has now been solved.

There was an apparent bug in the plugin related to the main .flowplayer CSS class. This class has now been removed and replaced with a .flowplayer-video CSS class.

Ulrich will be officially releasing this update shortly. Anyone using the .flowplayer class in their custom CSS will have to change it to .flowplayer-video accordingly.

Thanks for getting this fixed Ulrich!
