Make sure you are using the HTML5 player option.

When you use this option we simply use the built in WordPress player. If this does not work then it is likely an issue with the WordPress player.

    Thanks

P.S. if you have additional concerns please use the support system at PodcastingPlugin.com

I am using the HTML5 option yes. Though I have tried it both ways.

Do you have any suggestions on why it works fine in other browsers? What I might need to do to fix it for IE?

Not sure. The reason we use the built in player is so we don’t have to deal with browser issues. That being said there might be some slight difference in the way we utilize the player.

Have you tried putting a media file directly into your post? That would test if it has anything to do with the podcasting plugin or not.

Followup I’ve determined that IE just will not use the AUDIO tag for whatever reason. IE11 seems ok, but IE10 and below won’t run it. I’ve tested multiple sites and files, and it seems like they broke the HTML5 support somewhere along the way.

So I’m having to code a fallback for those browser versions instead.

Do you think this is a WordPress problem or something that we are doing in the plugin? We’re not doing much in plugin accept setting the media file.

Neither I’m pretty sure it’s an IE problem.

I’ve tested the AUDIO tag in IE 10 outside of the WordPress platform as well and it simply does not load. I know everything SAYS it it supported, but I and my colleagues have not been able to get it to work at all with any site.

For example – this was suggested as a good test site for media formats. It is using the HTML5 audio tag. https://textopia.org/androidsoundformats.html

And IE 10 gave the same generic failure message for all of them.

Similarly – there was an additional styling plugin we were looking at for media that has a demo page that is simply audio files and they too just never load.

Again, IE 10 just said nope.

Okay thinks for the update. If you get this figured out I’m sure the core WordPress team would love to know about it. The audio player they are using is supposed to have fallbacks for browsers that don’t support the html5 audio tag.
