I have just updated Download Manager from v3.1.05 to v3.1.09 and carried out some rudimentary tests. In this version I am no longer able to change the file associated with the download.

    Steps to re-create
    (1) Create a download entry
    (2) Visit the download page, note that the file can be downloaded
    (3) Re-edit the download entry, change the associated file link
    (4) Visit the download page, note that downloading results in a HTTP 404 File Not Found error

Step-by-step video screencast of this issue: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AiwD9-8HyNC59RinWA42TuHwqPdC?e=MK8qAA

Note: No errors are recorded in the standard WordPress WP_DEBUG log.

Please help me to be able to successfully change the associated download file.

    David.

It may be conflicting with other scripts. Can you please enable/disable other plugins for checking? i have checked there are lots of plugins installed in your site. you can also switch the theme for checking. please let me know further.

    Thanks.

I have tested this on a fresh WP installation, and it works fine, so, yes, it seems that something on my website is causing this problem.

As you correctly state, I have a lot of plugins, disabling/enabling each one to find the cause of this is quite an effort. Is there an easier way, using Query Monitor or something similar?

    Hi,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Checked your video. May you please try attaching another PDF file instead of the one you are trying.

Now, I’m following this topic closely and I shall reply to you without any delay :).

    Shafayat,

Good call re trying another file! I did some further testing and out of 10 files tried, around 50% of them ‘worked (i.e. download manager correctly linked to the file) and 50% did did, reporting ‘undefined’.

It turns out that these files do not exist on the server, even though they are listed in WordPress Media Library.

That’s obviously a problem I need to solve, but what is clear is that this is NOT an issue with Download Manager.

Please feel free to close the ticket, and thank you for getting back to me.

    Regards,
    David.
