Unable to mark as read

Server logs report this error:
[allowmethods:error] [pid 8161:tid 139747389024000] [client 98.42.40.31:55276] AH01623: client method denied by server configuration: ‘DELETE’ to /home/xxxxxx/domains/xxxxxx.com/private_html/sandbox/wp-json, referer: https://xxxxxx.com/sandbox/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wfcm-file-changes
Seems a lot of servers out there don’t allow the DELETE http method. Is there a way around this?
