• I have made several attempts at making simple edits to this theme. I make a round of changes and then refresh the site, the changes work, wait a few minutes sometimes and the changes revert to exactly how it was.

I have attempted using a different framework to build the theme. It still did the same thing. I attempted to rename the theme folder to default but it still did the same thing. I am currently using 2.8.4.

https://www.sisterscupcakes.com/wp/ <– is the site. Any ideas?

You’ve always been helpful in the past. Thanks in advance.

  • I’ve never heard of a theme reverting/rewriting itself.

Are you absolutely sure that you’re seeing the updated site every time? Have you tried emptying your browser cache? Have you tried using another machine to view the site – preferably using a completely different connection/ISP? Are you sure you’ve activated the edited theme?

What about plugins? Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

I attempted to rename the theme folder to default

Um – no. That’s simply not going to work. If you want to create a new theme or rename and existing theme, you have to to a bit more than just rename the folder. And you most definitely don’t want to try using an existing folder name or use the names “default” or “classic”.

I have attempted using a different framework to build the theme.

What do you mean by “a different framework”? Where are you editing these themes? In Admin/Appearance/Editor? Or locally?

I’ve never heard of this either. I’m absolutely sure that I’m seeing the updated site every time. I have tried emptying the browser cache. I have tried using another machine from a different isp. I am sure I have activated the theme. I have tried editing the theme online in the theme editor and I have tried editing the theme locally both in text edit and Dreamweaver.

I changed the theme folder name back to a different title and changed the original ‘default’ folder back to default.

Originally I used https://www.yvoschaap.com/wpthemegen/ to build the ‘framework’ I was referencing. What I mean by framework is I used it to build the skeleton of what I wanted as far as sidebar width, number of columns, etc. When I was running into all of these issues I thought maybe that had something to do with it. So I used a template from this site – https://www.wpthemerkit.com/ and changed a few things so it would start to look like what I needed. Still having the same issues.

I have tried deacvtivating all plugins. I’m not sure what else to do. I’ve even tried changing the permissions on all of the files in the theme in the case that maybe that would be the issue. Is there a possible server side issue I’m not aware of?

I have done wordpress installs on three different hosts and they were all effective and worked flawlessly.

Anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue?
