• I recently started building a new WordPress site and have been having serious issues getting it to display correctly. When I attempt to modify the settings in Appearance > Customize, none of the changes that I make seem to be reflected in the live website. At first I thought it might be an issue with my theme but I have since tried three different themes and they all have the same issue. The current active theme is Customify, but I have also tried using Sinatra and OceanWP, as well as the default WP themes, and they all have the same issue. No changes made in the Customize section have any effect on the website appearance. ‘Additional CSS’ changes have no affect. Nothing at all. I’ve tried clearing browser cache and WP cache. I’ve worked on quite a few WP sites and have never experienced this issue. I’m quite perplexed.

You can see here what the site should look like according to the customize settings.

  • Your website has a cache active. It seems that it comes from the plugin that your hoster Bluehost has installed there. This could also prevent such adjustments. You should try to clear the cache. Bluehost support should be able to tell you how to do that.

thanks so much for the reply. I contacted Bluehost and had them disable the site caching from the CDN a couple of days ago. they said there might be a delay in propagating the change but as of yet there is no change to the site. still no ability to make changes to the site appearance settings. I’m considering just deleting the WordPress install and starting over.
