Unable to login to my wordpress site redirection loop. /wp-login.php?redirect_to

    Hello

    i have a problem accessing my dashboard.
    Normally i could enter i with https://www.mysite/wp-admin/
    My Password is not accepted anymore and it is looping

    https://mysite/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmysite%2Fmysite%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

    However if i use the wordpress address i can login. Even the username and password which i stored in the browser are available.
    When i click inside the dashboard home on the customize your size button i get a session expired message. The menu on the left side is still visible but is has no content nor is the web page visible.

    I disabled all plugins and also cleared my cache and cookies but nothing helped.

    I tried to install a child theme and placed a wrong index.php inside the child folder. After this the problems started.

  • Hello!

    If you have FTP access to your site (otherwise, ask your web host how to attain it), I would strongly recommend that you go into your /wp-content/themes/ folder, and simply rename the directory of your currently active theme (for instance, adding a character in the end, like an underscore).

    That will turn off your theme and force wordpress to switch to one of its default themes, the TwentyNumber themes.

    If – that’s the impression I got from your description – your problem was caused by the edits you made to a child theme, then the problem will be resolved. You can even switch back to your bad theme after you fixed it, it’s still listed in your available themes, now among the inactive ones.

    Edit : wait, you still can log in to the administration ?!? Oh well, then you can directly switch to another theme from within your administration account. And then re-start from scratch customizing your theme.

    Yes i am still able to access the admin board through my wordpress address not from the site address mysite/wp-admin.

    I reinstalled the theme which i was using but it did not help. I still do not see my site when i hit the customize your site button
    The browser hangs at

    …/wp-admin/themes.php

    and after it failed to load it i get the session expired message.

    HAH i solved it. I somehow mixed up the
    WordPress Address (URL) Site Address (URL)
    fields. I changed them and now i can login correctly and the dashboard is working as expected!! ?? Thank you for your time!
